"Local Mompreneur Supports Breast-is-Best"
(HILLSBORO, OREG- April 15th, 2008) A local Hillsboro resident, Crystal Foutz, has designed an elegant breastfeeding poncho that addresses all privacy concerns for moms who nurse their infants in public. Foutz named her company ModestMomz, and has gained recognition from boutiques and E-commerce sites all around the U.S.
ModestMomz offers an improved design for those moms that prefer to cover while nursing. Foutz hopes that by making public breastfeeding easier, women will feel encouraged to prolong this special ritual for the entire first year.
The idea for ModestMomz came in response to the discovery that no other nursing cover existing hides a mother's front AND back. Most covers resemble an apron, so as to only offer privacy for the front. Unless all mothers can afford to buy nursing specific clothing, or wear low-cut shirts, breastfeeding in public requires a mom to lift her shirt. It's not that exposing the back is indecent, but for a new mom that has post-pregnancy love handles, stretch marks, and all that comes with the 40 week ordeal, it is a matter of comfort.
Foutz was determined to create a design that was functional, yet stylish. With a cowl neckline that allows mom to peek in on feeding babe, armholes for diaper bag accessibility, an inner pocket to carry breast pads or burp cloth, and full length to hide all from hip up, this poncho was designed for comfort, fashion, and practicality.
With new marketing strategies, an upgraded website, and the sales rep company KaraKids, ModestMomz has vastly grown in the last 6 months. With future success, Foutz plans to donate the 5% of profits from sale to the International Breast Milk Project (www.breastmilkproject.org). This organization helps provide healthy breast milk to orphans of HIV and AIDS stricken mothers.
